A Cold Start in Fargo - Snocross Rounds 1 & 2

Milaca, MN (December 20th, 2022) - New season, new riders, new crew - Woodies Racing returns to the 2022/23 Amsoil Snocross National Circuit ready to get on the top step. This year we started the season off in Fargo, ND at the Red River Valley Speedway, one of the largest, coldest, and toughest tracks of any season. The perfect trial by fire for our new riders, Oskar Englund and Nemo Fahlander.

PRO WOMEN - Taven Woodie #873

Coming off a 3rd overall finish last season Taven is more hungry than ever to get on the top step of that box. She fought hard this weekend, not only against the 0º weather, the stacked Women’s field but also her own body as she came into the weekend with a lung infection making her barely able to breathe. Friday she was able to rack up a 2nd place finish in round 1 followed by another 2nd place finish in the final. Saturday is when she shined, winning both of her rounds against some of the fastest women in Snocross. In the final, we saw her chasing down Melene Cottew finishing only moments behind her in second. Although it wasn’t the top step she was looking for she has set herself up very well for championship points by riding fast and with consistency.

SPORT - Nemo Fahlander #169

Coming all the way from Sweden Nemo is ready to leave it all on the track to prove his speed and show that he is here to stay. For his first-ever race in the US, we are very impressed with what he was able to accomplish, in his first day of racing he took 2nd in his LCQ and fought his way from the second row into 8th in the final. Day two saw him leave the competition behind winning the LCQ and once more worked his way up from the 2nd row into 10th. His plan before heading into Shakopee is to train with Kaden Woodie and tuner Ryan Duncan to learn how to get those hole shots. He said in Sweden the races are typically longer meaning that your durability as a rider is often more important than your starts.

PRO LITE - Oskar Englund #339

Our other Swede Oskar has been chomping at the bit to have the opportunity to come to the US to race the world’s premiere Snocross series. He is entering one of the most competitive Pro Lite fields we have ever seen with Jordan Lebel staying in Pro Lite, some Pros dropping into Pro Lite, and a whole crowd of new faces in the category. Oskar was plagued with mechanicals but did his best to show what he’s capable of while keeping the sled in one piece. On Saturday he was able to win the LCQ, on Sunday he took 2nd in his first round and was able to hold on to 14 in the Final. Now with an understanding of the competition and the confidence that he belongs in the front of the pack Oskar will be hitting the practice track hard while we dial in a brand new Arctic Cat for him for Shakopee.
