Woodies Racing Back to Back Podiums at Lake Geneva // RDS 13&14 // 2022 Season
Milaca, MN (March 22nd, 2022) - Lights, fans, ACTION! This past weekend in Lake Geneva saw some of the most exciting racing of the season. The Grand Geneva Ski Hill made for the perfect track combining rhythm and for the first time this season, real elevation change, with the riders taking two or three trips up the ski runs (depending on class). This event has always drawn a crowd and this year was no different, thousands of fans packed the stands and lined the ski hill screaming for their favorite racers. Woodies Racing pushed hard this weekend, Taven was able to grab back-to-back podiums and the boys were able to secure multiple top 3s!
Taven Woodie #873 - Pro Women
The 2022 Season has been hard on Taven, from the start she was involved in a few serious crashes leaving her with new battle scars and a sore body. A bad ankle has been plaguing her the past two weekends, but she continues to push herself at every event. Friday despite pouring rain Taven was able to grab 3 podiums, 2nd in Round 1, 1st in Round 2, and 3rd in the final. Saturday was even better for her winning both of her qualifying races and 3rd in the final. She is excited for the last event of the season but ready to take a couple of weeks off and then get back into training and PT to rehab her ankle.
Dylan Roes #112 - Pro Lite
The hardest part about a month like this is that there is no room for error. Dylan came into the weekend still battling the cold he had at ERX, luckily it had mostly subsided but he still was not at 100%. Saturday was building for him, taking 4th in round 1 and 5th in round 2 he headed into the last chance qualifier and absolutely lit the track up winning and putting multiple seconds into the 2nd place rider. Coming from the back row he was then able to work his way into 7th in the final! Sunday made for an early morning practice at 7:30 while the sun was still on its way up he looked stellar on the track taking 6th and 4th in rounds 1 and 2. He went into the LCQ ready to turn on the jets. In an almost ominous way as the groomers worked on the track the Livestream played a spot about what happens to your sled when your reeds break. Pro-Lite LCQ sitting on the start warming their pipes up, the light goes green and they take off leaving Dylan behind with an unhappy sled due to, you guessed it, a broken reed.
Trent Wittwer #115 - Pro
Back from the dead after fighting a terrible cold last weekend, we saw Trent Wittwer return to the race track. His first time on track for the weekend on Saturday he pulled the holeshot and ended up in 2nd in a stacked field. Round 2 he took 6th and in one of the rowdiest, crash-riddled finals of the season he secured an 8th. Sunday Trent took 5th in round 1 and after getting back to the trailer discovered he had badly bent part of an internal, all hands on deck from the team mechanics to get a new one swapped in and get him back on track for Round 2 in less than an hour. Our team was able to get it done just in time for him to race to the start, pull up to the line, and take off for round 2 where he took another 5th. Still having issues with the sled he was just aiming to finish the final.
